I created A Love Affair With Fashion on December 4, 2011.  It started out as a new creative outlet during a difficult time in my life.  I was looking for another way to express myself and connect with others. I also wanted to show women that you can still look great while shopping on a budget because I truly believe that personal style is not about the brands that you wear.  Before I started the blog, I was actively pursuing a career in music.  I have been singing, writing and dancing my whole life.  However, I got to a point where I was not really sure if that's what I wanted anymore.  As I was transitioning out of the music industry, I felt that on some level I was having an affair with fashion.  Singing will always be a part of my life though, and I hope to find ways to incorporate that into what I am doing now.

Right before I started my blog, I had just recently lost my job and to be honest I had no idea what I wanted or where I was headed in life.  It just so happens that when I got laid off, my father was also diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.  Three months later he passed away.  It's the most difficult thing I have ever had to go through and it completely changed me and my outlook on life.  I'm a firm believer that the struggles and tragedies we face make us who we are today.  People always ask what inspires me, and my main source of inspiration comes from my father. After seeing him fight for his life and seeing all of the pain he endured, it made me realize that I can do anything in life and that I deserve to do what makes me happy.  I get my strength and courage from him and he will forever be my driving force.  I just want to encourage others to believe in themselves and to follow their dreams, whatever they may be, just like he did for me.

We all have our personal stories and this is mine.   Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me a little bit better.  <3

Here are some questions that I receive most often.

Who takes your photos?

My amazing mother is my photographer or as I like to call her my "momatographer" :)
A fun fact is that she used be a photographer when I was growing up and she got back into it when I started my blog.  She actually worked for a company who took all of my school pictures in grammar school! I love being a mother/daughter team as it has brought us even closer together.  She is extremely supportive and I am very grateful to have her.  I have no idea what I would do without her.

What camera & lens do you use?

I am currently using a Canon Rebel T3i with a 50mm 1.8 lens.  We shoot on manual and are still learning more about this feature, so I hope to continue to improve the quality of my photos.

How tall are you?

I am super petitie at 4'11.  So close to 5 feet!  Heels and angles make me look taller in photos sometimes.

How old are you?

I am 31. The jig is up!  No longer a spring chicken anymore.  But I believe you are only as old as you feel and I definitely do not feel 31.  I have learned to embrace my age.  :)

What is your nationality?

Both of my parents were born in Puerto Rico.  I was born here, but I have been able to visit PR a couple of times.  It's beautiful!  I understand Spanish much better than I can speak it.  (shame on me)

What is your degree?

I graduated with a BA in Communications. My specialization was journalism and I also minored in English.  A fun random fact: In college I hosted my own radio show for a couple of semesters.
