Classic Black

I've definitely been having a moment with black lately.  It will always be one of my favorite colors because it's so classic.   When in doubt, go all black!

Top: Furor Moda / Skirt: Lyssé (here) c/o / Shoes: Aldo (similar on sale)
Clutch Wallet: Charlotte Russe (also love) / Glasses: Rivet & Sway / Necklace: Capwell (here) c/o

Not only is this lace pencil skirt beautiful, it's also so comfortable!  It's one of those pieces that gives you both fashion and function, which I really love.  Their pieces are designed with the 3S technology to slim, smooth, and shape.  It has a 4-way stretch and helps to flatten the belly.  I prefer high-waist styles over anything else when it comes to skirts because they really are so flattering to wear.  I'm looking forward to Lyssé's fall collection coming soon as they will be having great pieces, including comfy leggings, to choose from.

I just wanted to create a classic look that could work well for the office, meetings, and even dinner/drinks.  You can't go wrong with a knee length skirt as it works well for so many occasions.  Since it's still a bit cold over here, I decided on this long sleeve twist top.  It's a great basic item that I'm sure I will be pairing with many things.  At the last minute, I decided to put on these frames and I think they ended up being the perfect piece to finish off the whole look.  They brought a little more sophistication to the outfit.  And this lip color is one of my new favorites!  It's a nice orange/red shade for this spring.

Happy Monday loves!

Happy Friday babes!

My style has changed SO much over the years.  I went through a phase when I was younger where I wore sneakers and hats all of the time.  Then as I got older, my style evolved into something more feminine and classy.  However, I still have my moments where I don't mind throwing on a baseball cap, with heels now, and just showing more of my laid back side.  The whole sporty chic trend is really big right now and I'm all for it.  I always say it's fun to switch things up and show off more than one style.  Each outfit is sort of like peeling back another layer of who you are.

This was one of those spur of the moment, unplanned outfits.  I was heading into Hoboken with my mom for the day and I didn't want to be too dressed up.  Once I decided on this varsity jacket, white tee and my dark denim, I added the hat to complete the whole sporty look.  I was also having a bad hair day so the hat made it better ;) The red bag and heels added a feminine touch as well.  I wasn't even thinking about the shooting location until we got there and then I realized NYC was behind me and I had on my NY hat.  It was perfect!  This is such a beautiful and inspiring location right by the water with the view of the city.  As it gets warmer out, I definitely plan to go back there more often.

Even though I'm from Jersey, I've always considered myself to be more of a New York City girl. It's definitely been my second home for years and I've grown to love it so much.  If you have never been to NYC before, I highly suggest coming for a visit.  I think you will fall in love with it too. <3

Happiest of weekends!

I'm taking it back to a few weeks ago from the Nordstrom Rack summit in San Francisco.  I posted a little recap of my trip and some photos from the shoot, but now I wanted to get into more detail about the #ShopGenius campaign and how you can also get involved!  But first, here are some fun group shots :)

One of the things that I love the most about Nordstrom Rack is all of the great deals.  It's such an amazing feeling to find something that you've been looking for and it happens to be marked down significantly.  It's even better when you randomly stumble upon a hidden gem.  It's sort of like going on a little treasure hunt and I have to confess, I love the thrill of it!  That's how I felt at the San Francisco store opening when I found this Rebecca Minkoff bag for over 65% off!  One of the other girls saw it on a mannequin and told me about it. Since she wasn't going to get it, I ran right over and snatched it up! lol  It was such a great find.

I also scored these Enzo Angiolini pumps right before my trip for almost 50% off!  I wasn't even looking for shoes, but when I found them I just couldn't resist.  An amazing sale always leaves me feeling like I've conquered the shopping world.

I'm sure all of you get that feeling too and that's what this #ShopGenius campaign is all about!  You can share your shopping confessions and/or shopping treasures from Nordstrom Rack on instagram using the hashtag #ShopGenius.  Your submission might get a feature on the @NordstromRack page.  What I love most is all of us being able to share these finds with one another.  One of your followers might be on the hunt for the same item you just scored on sale, so why not share that good deal?! ;)

And now for some fun news, there is going to be a new Nordstrom Rack opening in Livingston, NJ later this year!  The opening at the SF store was so much fun so I can't wait for this one too. I'll keep you guys posted on those details as the opening gets closer.

Don't forget to follow @NordstromRack and share your finds with #ShopGenius.  Looking forward to seeing your pics!

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking

I just had to use the quote from one of my favorite movies, The Devil Wears Prada, as the title of this post! I thought it went perfect with my floral pants.

Pants: Choies (also love) / Sweater: H&M (similar style) / Shoes: Forever21 (similar)
Bag: olivia + joy / Sunglasses: Rivet & Sway / Necklaces: WildButterly
Bracelet: Tanya Kara

As cliché as it might be to wear florals for spring, I still can't resist. When the sun is shining bright and the flowers are in bloom, it's hard not to embrace it.  Might as well wear something that represents that, right? ;)  Too bad it was only warm for one day!  I feel like a little ball of sunshine in this outfit. You might remember when I wore these pants back in the fall.  I've been wanting to wear them again in a new way so the beginning of spring seemed like the perfect opportunity. This time, I really wanted to play up the colors in the print.  I got this mustard sweater a few months ago and it ended up pairing really well.  It's super loose fitted and comfy.  It's a good transitional piece to have.  I then took it a little further by adding my orange bag to tie the whole outfit together.  Loving these colors!  They're so fun, bright and full of life.

Now that the seasons have changed, I'm trying to switch up my hair more and a fishtail braid is such an easy go-to style.  What are some hairstyles that you typically do for spring & summer?  I'm looking to try out some new ones!

Enjoy your hump day beauties.  The weekend is almost here :)

Daytime Chic

Spring has officially sprung (well, sort of) and I am embracing it with open arms!

Sheath Dress: Maggy London (here) (similar) c/o / Shoes: Charlie By Mz (similar)
Bag: olivia + joy (similar style) / Sunglasses: Rivet & Sway / Cuff: Gorjana Griffin

This dress is supposed to be above the knee, but since I'm so short, it's longer on me.  For awhile, I tried to stay away from this length, but lately I'm learning to embrace it!  I truly believe that short girls can rock anything as long as it's styled the right way.  For example, if you wear a dress or skirt that hangs below the knee, wear a simple pump to help elongate your legs.  If you wear something with an ankle strap, then it could make you look shorter.  So don't worry my fellow petite ladies, we can make it work!

The style of this dress is so classic and elegant.  The black & white floral print is super chic and perfect for many occasions this spring.  I love that it works great for both day and night, so I really wanted to focus more on a daytime look.  Incorporating a bright color with a black/white combo is always fun, so this yellow bag did the trick. I decided to keep everything else really simple with only a few accessories and a high bun.  I actually lost my bun maker and was able to do this free hand.  Woohoo!  It took forever though, plus a million bobby pins ;)

Hope you all have an amazing Tuesday!

Moto Monday

Happy Monday!
The weather on Saturday was absolute perfection over here in Jersey.  I was starting to get into a winter slump, so the warmer weather definitely made me feel feel great!

Jacket: Charlotte Russe (here) c/o / Top: Furor Moda
Skirt: Charlotte Russe (here) c/o / Clutch: Galian / Shoes: PoshMark (similar
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban (here) / Necklace: Diana Warner

For me, spring/summer is crop top and skater skirt season!  I couldn't wait to start wearing them as you can see.  When it went up in the 60s, I just couldn't resist :) I always say that the best way to wear crop tops is with a high-waisted piece, especially if it's your first time wearing one.  I know a lot of girls don't feel comfortable showing too much of their stomach, me included.  When you wear a high-waist bottom with a crop top, it focuses on the smallest part of your body.  You can even take that extra step of pairing some type of jacket over it like I did here, that way you really only see a tiny bit of skin.
I wore the hell out of this top last summer and it's going to continue being a great staple for me this year.  I decided to style it with this fun printed skirt and a red moto jacket to give it some edge and pop of color.

I leave next week for LA and I am really looking forward to that consistent sun and warm weather.  I need some color on these pasty legs! haha
Have a lovely day <3
